Honey is for bumblebees, not babies
Perhaps you’ve heard that you never give honey to an infant, and indeed, if you look on honey containers at the supermarket, the labels tell you the same. Why? Honey may contain bacterial spores that produce the bacterium, Clostridium botulinum. This bacterium creates a toxin that can give your baby botulism, which makes your child sick and, in rare cases, affects the central nervous system, resulting in death. Honey is safe for older children and adults, but babies haven’t yet developed the bacteria in their digestive tracts that can control the spores and prevent the production of the toxins. So, never give honey to a child under age 1 for any reason
